Barberis shipyard-

Our history

The Barberis shipyard was founded in 1929 by Giuseppe Barberis, who began by building rowing boats in various models, according to the tradition of the "Maestri d'ascia".

In the early 1960s the wooden motorboat market began to develop; among the various builders, “I Cantieri Riva di Sarnico” stand out. The Barberis shipyard specializes in the overhaul and maintenance of these hulls and in 1961 it was made official as a Riva service station for Lake Maggiore.

Thus he abandoned the building becoming the main point of
reference point for this kind of boats which are still stored in the Shipyard today and make it "an open-air museum”.

In 1982, Giuseppe’ son, Alcide, took over the leadership of the shipyard from his father and thanks to his talent and ability he consolidated its excellence in restoration.
Even today Alcide restores his "jewels" with love and passion, proud of having made the shipyard a real "gem" of its kind.

A great help in achieving these milestones has been the family: first, his wife Anita, who stood by his side for decades and collaborated in the management; and now, his children Anna and Giuseppe with Giuseppe's wife Maria, who are carrying on this endeavor with the same passion. The experience of over 90 years, passed down through generations and always evolving, has kept the restoration of these "gems" on the water so vibrant.
